About Indios Huichol

Indios Huichol Inc. is a non-profit organization that was formed with the intention of serving the Tribal and non-Tribal Community, providing counseling services and educational programs and workshops.  Co-founded and directed by Rutury Temay, a traditional Huichol Medicine Person, their goal is to offer people the opportunity to experience the traditional methods of healing, ceremonies and spiritual guidance that have been practiced for centuries by the Huichol Tribe of Mexico, or Wixarika people. They are dedicated to the preservation of the integrity of all Indigenous traditions, and they honor what all share as fellow members of the Human Tribe. They work with people to help them uncover the true core of their being, which can be at times obscured by physical and/or emotional traumas. Rutury's calling is to extend his responsibility as a medicine person beyond his traditional Wixarika community to help people of all races.

Indios Huichol has been hosting events, workshops, and ceremonies at Ancient Springs Retreat Center in Cornville, Arizona for over 30 years. All profits from Indios Huichol workshops and the sale of traditional Huichol artwork are given directly to the Huichol Elders and their communities.

Services available through The Welcome Wellspring Support Fund:
Spiritual mentorship and guidance sessions with Rutury Temay can be supported by The Welcome Wellspring funding. These sessions are most appropriate for those in Arizona, or who are able to travel to Arizona, as some work may have to be done in-person. The Welcome Wellspring will also be collaborating with Indios Huichol to host events that can offer expanded offerings with Rutury.

About Rutury Temay
Wixárika/Huichol Medicine Person & Co-founder of Indios Huichol

Rutury is a Mara’akame, or medicine person, from the Huichol tribe in the Sierra Madra Mountains in Mexico.  He comes from a highly regarded lineage of medicine people who taught him the traditional ways from the time he was born, including his father, grandfather and dear sister Jaichima. He joined his sister in Arizona and lived and worked with her for almost 40 years, facilitating group workshops and pilgrimages, individual healing, spiritual guidance, hospice ceremonies, as well as various other services for many people in the US and Mexico.

He has been involved in numerous Native American gatherings and summits, and has worked with tribal people from all over the world. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and of course the native language of his people, the Wixarika, as they prefer to be called. He has been guided by the Elders of his community to represent his people in the wider world. He has been given rare permission to share his authentic and profound wisdom and knowledge of their ways of healing, and the precious ceremonies that have been passed down to him over the course of his lifetime. He is deeply committed to helping the people of his tribe and is a guardian of the Wixarika traditions and ceremonies.

He is also dedicated to helping anyone in any culture who feels they would benefit from the methods that have been passed down to him through many years of rigorous training, and are continuing to be passed down to him by the Elders of his community.

This is his lineage, to be of service to those in need, unconditionally. Being in his presence is truly a rare blessing. Rutury is a co-founder of Indios Huichol, a non-profit organization that hosts workshops and ceremonies at Ancient Springs Retreat Center, a beautiful sanctuary with an artesian spring in the high desert in Cornville, near Sedona, Arizona.
